&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Gassendi&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; je veliki [[udarni krater]] [[Mjesečevi krateri|na Mjesecu]] koji se nalazi na sjevernom rubu [[More vlage|Mora vlage]] ({{lat.|Mare Humorum}}). Krater je [[Međunarodna astronomska unija]] 1935. godine nazvala po francuskom astronomu [[Pierre Gassendi|Pierreu Gassendiju]].&amp;lt;ref name=&amp;quot;gpn&amp;quot;&amp;gt;{{GPN|2111}}&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; [[Thomas William Webb|T. W. Manji krater – Gassendi A – prodire u sjeverni rub i spaja se s grubim izdizanjem na sjeverozapadnom dijelu dna. Par kratera neobično podsjeća na dijamantni prsten.&lt;br /&gt;

U južnom dijelu dna kratera nalazi se polukružna formacija nalik grebenu koja je koncentrična s vanjskim rubom. Nalazi se u južnom dijelu gdje se rub spušta do svog najnižeg dijela, a na najjužnijoj točki pojavljuje se praznina. Visina ruba varira od samo 200 metara do čak 2,5 kilometra iznad površine. Pod ima brojne humke i neravnine. Također postoji sustav pukotina koji se križa po dnu kratea,&amp;lt;ref name=&amp;quot;Wilhelms_et_al_1987&amp;quot;/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;ref name=&amp;quot;Purohit_et_al_2018&amp;quot;/&amp;gt; nazvan Rimae Gassendi.&lt;br /&gt;

Noviji krater Gassendi A nalazi se uz Gassendi na sjeveru. Zbog svog sustava zraka, Gassendi A je mapiran kao dio [[Kopernicij (Mjesec)|Kopernicijskog sustava]].&amp;lt;ref name=&amp;quot;Wilhelms_et_al_1987b&amp;quot;/&amp;gt; Na nekim starijim kartama krater Gassendi A zvao se &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Clarkson&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, po britanskom amaterskom astronomu i selenografu Rolandu L. T. Clarksonu, ali to ime [[Međunarodna astronomska unija]] nije službeno priznala, pa je ime uklonjeno.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Gassendi je razmatran za moguće mjesto slijetanja tijekom [[Program Apollo|programa Apollo]], ali nikada nije odabran. Međutim, iz tog razloga, [[Lunar Orbiter 5]] ga je snimio u visokoj rezoluciji. Također ga je [[Apollo 16]] intenzivno fotografirao.&lt;br /&gt;
